Workshop: AI for Science: Scaling in AI for Scientific Discovery
Abstract
Dr. Megan Stanley is a Senior Researcher in Microsoft AI for Science, currently based in Amsterdam and formerly in Cambridge. She received her PhD in quantum optics and solid state physics from the University of Cambridge, before moving towards work in Machine Learning via a postdoc in computational neuroscience at UCSF. At Microsoft, she has worked on meta-learning, GNNs, applications of both in early-stage drug discovery and more recently on weather modelling with large-scale foundation models. As a member of the PDE team in Microsoft, Megan worked on the Aurora foundation model of the atmosphere, which she will be presenting today. She would also like to highlight the other core contributors to this project: Cris Bodnar, Wessel Bruinsma, and Ana Lucic who is here today in the audience.
