Overview of Research Activities in the Center for Juris-Informatics

The Center for Juris-Informatics, established in 2023 within the Research Organization of Information and Systems (ROIS), advances interdisciplinary research on both “\emph{Law by AI}” and “\emph{Law of AI}”, aiming to establish an academic foundation for integrating legal and information sciences. This paper provides an overview of our research on “\emph{Law by AI}” toward a trustworthy neuro-symbolic legal AI framework that integrates large language models (LLMs), symbolic legal reasoning, argumentation frameworks, and executable logic systems. The research consists of four interconnected components: legal information understanding, implicit legal knowledge discovery, machine-readable legal formalization, and trustworthy legal reasoning. Together, these activities aim to advance scalable, explainable, and legally grounded AI for legal analysis, compliance support, judicial assistance, and automated legal reasoning.
