Keynote speak: Sebastian Cammerer - Wireless Research at the Speed of Inference
Abstract
Within just a few months, software development has fundamentally changed: from human-engineered programs to agents that can autonomously write, refine, and optimize entire software stacks. This marks an inflection point for wireless research, which has traditionally been tightly coupled to sophisticated software-based simulations, implementations, and deployments. Agentic AI creates the opportunity for research to return to its true core: developing concepts, building intuition, and finding the right questions, while agents handle implementation at scale. Realizing this vision requires tools, platforms, and workflows that are genuinely built for agentic AI, ensuring that neither the human researcher nor the surrounding toolchain becomes the bottleneck. In this talk, I will illustrate this shift using examples in algorithm optimization and 3GPP- compliant implementations, and discuss the implications for research tools such as NVIDIA Sionna, as well as why digital twins are emerging as a key enabler of this transformation.
