Outdoor events

For enjoyment of all attendees, ICML local organizers are offering two outdoor activities on Sunday, June 26, 2011 in or around Bellevue: 1) a soccer game and 2) a mountain hike. Also, we might reserve a lounge in a nearby cool billiards place if you'd like. We would like to assess your interest in these events. The two activities will conflict in time and thus are exclusive.

Soccer Game

The soccer game will take place 3pm-5pm. Please allow time for transportation to and from the game.

Mountain Hike

The hike(s) will leave the Bellevue Hyatt around 9am. We may be able to offer more than one. The hike will take a significant portion of the day, but we'll plan to have dinner in town. The exact route(s) will be determined with regard to the weather, trail conditions, group size and experience and other factors.

Please indicate your usual idea of a day hike length and intensity. Since we expect a varied group, we won't aim for the high grades; this is to judge the group composition. (Email tomas@icml-2011.org for more ambitious hike/scramble requests, we'll see.)

Leisurely: ~1000ft vertical, 6 miles round trip (example: Little Si)
Moderate: ~2000 ft, 8 miles r/t (example: Lake Serene)
Sporty: ~3000ft, 12 mile r/t (example: Granite Mountain)
Grueling: up from there (examples: Camp Muir, Seatle Marathon)

Billiards Lounge

We are thinking about reserving a room in a biliards lounge and deciding whether to make a formal reservation with pre-paid billiards. All-you-can-play billiards and all-you-can-drink bar is about $60 per person. Or, we could simply come informally and pay as we go.
