ICML 2005 Student Scholarship and Volunteer Programs

For students interested to participate to the ICML/ILP 2005 conference, two types of programs are available:

ICML 2005 Student Scholarship Program

The ICML 2005 Student Scholarship Program will enable Graduate and PhD students to participate in the 22nd International Conference on Machine Learning (ICML 2005) and to receive feedback on their work from senior researchers in machine learning. They will be involved in the poster sessions and will have to present their work in progress to senior researchers. For the ICML 2005 Student Scholarship Program, please submit your application by Tuesday June 7th, 23:59 EST according to the application guidelines listed below. Later applications will not be considered.

ICML 2005 Student Volunteer Program

The ICML 2005 Student Volunteer Program seeks students, who would like to attend the ICML/ILP 2005 conferences or workshops, and to help with the organization of the conference. For the ICML 2005 Student Volunteer Program, please submit your application by Tuesday June 7th, 23:59 EST according to the application guidelines listed below. Later applications will not be considered.

Both programs subsidizes registration fee, and partial travel expenses support. The student programs may help students to integrate themselves into the ML research community.

Application Requirements for ICML 2005 Student Sholarships and Volunteer Programs

Students interested to apply for the ICML 2005 Student Scholarship and Volunteer Programs are required to send in an application to the Scholarship Chair, Thorsten Joachims, (see contact information above) by Tuesday June 7th, 23:59 EST. If not indicated otherwise, applications will automatically be considered for both programs.

The application must include the following items:

  • Cover sheet including name, institution, address, email, phone number, stage of education, name of advisor, and whether the student has a paper (conditionally) accepted at the ICML conference or a workshop (include title of paper and name of workshop)
  • A one page abstract of their research
  • A curriculum vita
  • A letter of recommendation from their advisor that also states their student status
  • An estimate of the travel costs, including a statement indicating whether other travel funding is available (include amount).

The deadline for the application to ICML 2005 Student Sholarships and Volunteer Programs is Tuesday June 7th, 23:59 EST .

Please Note !! Late, incomplete or informal applications to other persons than to the Scholarship Chair, Thorsten Joachims, can not be considered. Only a limited number of students can be funded. Students with papers accepted at the ICML conference or a workshop will be given priority. Students will be expected to write a short report after the conference.
